Memory module made for Modular Managed Switch

Two-port twisted-pair modules for the Phoenix Contact Modular Managed Switch store switch configuration, including management IP address, the password and all switch settings.
Phoenix Contact's new memory modules FL IF MEM 2 TX-D are 2-port twisted-pair modules for the Modular Managed Switch. They store the complete switch configuration, including the management IP address, the password and all switch settings, e.g the port configuration and the trap receiver. The pluggable memory module provides instant configuration when installing or exchanging devices without requiring additional tools or software.

The module is simply plugged in, the switch is activated, and all parameters are immediately configured according to the stored settings.

Integrating a configuration memory into an interface module does not use any additional interfaces.

If devices are exchanged, the switch configuration is transferred when the interface modules are plugged in.

The 2-port memory module is colour-coded to distinguish it from the other interfaces.

Memory modules are supported by the Modular Managed Switch as of firmware version 2.03.

As well as memory module support, the new firmware enables multicast filtering (static or dynamic via IGMP snooping) and port prioritizing.

This means that Modular Managed Switches now support Ethernet IP.

Phoenix Contact is one of the world leaders in developing and manufacturing connectivity solutions and automation components.

Its principal product ranges include: printed circuit board connectors; modular terminal blocks; fieldbus components; surge voltage protection systems; industrial plug and socket connectors and interface units.

Interface modules have fast mounting technology

AS-interface modules have an ingenious mechanism allowing them to clip onto flat cable - using a slide - with no tools needed and offer quick yet very secure mounting, which is guaranteed.
Interface modules have fast mounting technology AS-interface modules have an ingenious mechanism allowing them to clip onto flat cable - using a slide - with no tools needed and offer quick yet very secure mounting, which is guaranteed. AS-Interface founder member ifm electronic has revisited the classic style of interface module, in the process addressing earlier shortcomings. An ingenious mechanism means the new module clips onto the flat cable with no tools needed.

The upper and lower parts are no longer mounted by four screws but by a slide.

Quick yet very secure mounting is guaranteed.

A further innovation lets the user change the direction of the cable.

Instead of left-to-right only, leaving unsightly bends in the flat cable, the carrier insert rotates ninety degrees for up/down or all the way around for right-to-left.

Initially six variants have been released, covering common input and output configurations.

All feature new high-visibility LEDs to identify signal states, operating voltage and faults.

The fault LED on the module enables exact fault location for the user.

A red flashing LED indicates a peripheral fault, which implies either a short circuit of the sensor supply or an overload of the output.

A permanently lit red LED however indicates a communication fault.

In addition to the LEDs above, the digital output modules feature an LED displaying the logic state of the plc outputs.

The modules can be addressed either without voltage before mounting or when mounted and wired via the addressing socket.

All that's needed is the AC1144 addressing unit and E70213 addressing cable.

Ifm supplies one of the widest ranges of sensors for position and process control, complemented by a huge selection of connection possibilities, from connecting cable to AS-interface systems.

Ifm is committed to working closely with its customers to develop products which precisely match their needs, and the company provides expert, readily accessible technical support to help users maximise the benefits they gain from ifm products.

Control relays are more powerful

Latest generation of easy control relays have a three times more powerful memory, are more versatile and faster than previous models and offer engineers even more application possibilities.
Moeller has released the next generation of its universally popular and highly successful easy control relays. More powerful, more versatile and faster than ever before, the new units - the easy500 and easy700 - will offer engineers even more application possibilities. With a control circuit memory up to three times larger than the previous units, the range of potential applications is now significantly wider.

The new models also offer 16 function blocks for features such as time relays, counters or analogue comparators.

Combined with this increased memory and increased functionality is a processing speed four times faster than their predecessor.

Where operator information is required on the front of the control panel, the Easy 500 and 700 may be connected to the revolutionary MFD display using the new CP4 interface, offering a true IP65 panel display.

To record machine or system operating, service and downtime intervals, the new models feature four integrated 'operating hours' counters.

These cannot be accidentally reset, even after a new program is downloaded.

They can only be deleted by intentionally resetting.

All programs, such as the circuit diagram complete with associated function blocks and all remnant parameters and data, are stored in a supply failure-proof EEPROM.

Power supply options for 100 to 240V AC or 24V DC are available; the latter either as relay or transistor outputs.

The new models also cover two additional voltage ranges easy500 and easy700 models are available for 24VAC and 12V DC.

Control outputs are available either as transistor or 8A relay versions.

Operators can also choose from one of twelve selectable menu languages: English, German, French, Italian and Spanish, plus Portuguese, Dutch, Swedish, Polish, Czech, Hungarian and Turkish.

Customers will benefit from improved price/performance as the units offer more performance at the same cost.

In addition, all existing circuit configurations for previous models can be transferred and used with these new units without any changes, as the new easy generation is fully compatible.

Same size solid state relays have more power

The higher amperage models of solid state relays are ideal for high inrush loads, motors, lamps as well as traditional applications, yet are cooler and safer, says the manufacturer.
The Power-io H family of solid state relays has been expanded with two new high current models offering 90 and 125 amp AC switching outputs. With a 24-660 voltage range, these new models are universal replacements for the majority of solid state relay 'hockey puck SSR' cubes. The higher amperage models are ideal for high inrush loads, motors, lamps as well as traditional applications.

When used at lower amperage switching, such as 20-75 amps, these new models offer cooler performance while ensuring a higher margin of safety against amperage surge problems.

Both models have the Maximum Surge SurvivalT design for outstanding performance and long life in industrial, laboratory, HVAC, or similar installations.

Free CD helps with enclosure specification

A free, interactive CD is packed with features to help users specify an enclosure and is said to be perfect for installation engineers working across several industry sectors.
Electrical and electronic packaging specialist Sarel, a division of Schneider Electric, has launched a free, interactive CD packed with features to help users specify an enclosure. Designated the Vision CD, the new tool is perfect for design or installation engineers working across several industry sectors. Features on the CD include thermal management software, CAD drawings, an estimating tool and product details.

The thermal management software helps users understand and compensate for heat rise and condensation in electrical and electronic packaging.

'It isn't uncommon for badly specified enclosures to contain a couple of inches of water as the result of condensation.

In such situations, correct specification can result in big maintenance savings later in the project,' stated Adrian Walker, business development manager of Sarel.

'Essentially, any application where electrical equipment that consumes power can be found in the same enclosure as electronic components requires some degree of thermal compensation.

I have known us to resolve quite serious client problems that have had as their root the fact that electronic equipment doesn't get on with either elevated operating temperatures or condensation! The Vision CD will pass on some of this common sense knowledge and, in doing so, help our customers.' The estimating tool on the CD is simple to update via the Internet so the pricing information and useful contact details remain current.

As a result, customers may be happy to treat estimates produced using the Vision CD as a quotation; so confident is the company in the new tool.

Such quotations can even include fitting costs and enclosure accessories such as nineteen-inch swing frames and mounting plates.

'The Sarel philosophy has always been to think outside-in,' explained Walker.

'If you address the external packaging needs of, for instance, CCTV, datacomms or trackside control equipment, early enough in the process, you can save money later on.

Equally, if you start by considering the needs of what the enclosure has to protect, the end result can be much closer to the brief than it otherwise might have been.'

Modular industrial slip rings are cost effective

Modular industrial slip rings are cost effective where the transfer of electrical, digital and video signals or electrical power from stationary to rotating components is required.
IDM Electronics' Endura-Trac range of modular industrial Slip Rings has proven to be one of the most successfully and versatile products in IDM Electronics' catalogue. Since transferring production of these units to its high technology manufacturing facility in Reading last year, Endura-Trac sales have increased steadily while lead times have been reduced. The Endura-Trac range provides customers with a huge range of high performance standard products that are both reliable and durable.

Currently available in 92 different combinations, they offer flexibility of design and a cost effective solution in a wide range of applications where the transfer of electrical, digital and video signals or electrical power from stationary to rotating components is required.

Typical applications include packaging equipment, inspection equipment, machine tools, CCTV cameras, index tables, rotary transfer machines, paper and film conversion machines, lighting displays, turbines and generators and a host of industrial automation equipment.

Units are available for shaft or flange mounting and offer up to 100 signal circuits of 250V/5A and 24 power circuits with a capacity of 600V/30A.

They offer full 360 deg continuous rotation in either direction and are supplied with a dust cover.

There are options for sealed units, high-speed rotation and high voltage.

All units are supplied with 600mm flying leads as standard but customers may select any connector, lead length or lead exit pattern to match their interface requirements.

Endura-Trac can accommodate all colour or black and white video signals, high-speed digital data up to 80 MBaud and high frequency signals up to 125MHz.

Higher frequency options are available to increase the bandwidth to 250MHz and the digital speed up to 125Mbaud.

The slip rings are designed to minimise friction and no lubrication is required giving a long and maintenance free life.

Various mounting kits are available, making Endura-Trac the most flexible slip-ring solution possible.

The performance and versatility of the Endura-Trac range means it can be specified for a wide range of applications that would have previously required a custom built unit.

Whereas a specially designed slip ring may take six to eight weeks to engineer and produce, an Endura-Trac unit could be up and running in less than a week.

Universal terminal block speeds strip assembly

To save time, these screw terminal blocks have a spring-loaded, snap-on PE foot that automatically contacts the mounting rail when attached, and a contact plug-in bridge.
