Fairford have launched a comprehensive new on-line resource library for softstarters, providing information on everything from basic application advice to detailed data on energy saving performance. The site aims to provide everything an electrical engineer needs to know about Soft Starters, quickly, at the click of a button. Simple navigation and a broad range of downloadable data ensure that the site is easy to use and above all useful.

The market for softstarters is growing steadily, thanks to their operational simplicity, relatively low cost (especially at higher kW ratings) and energy optimising performance.

Electrical engineers in all industry sectors are generally under pressure to cut costs and bring projects in on increasingly short deadlines, hence the need to source accurate and informative data quickly, which is where the site should come in very handy.

In a highly competitive market such as the UK's, the primary reason for using a soft starter has to be cost.

The majority of softstart applications being on 5kW motors and above, this is where soft starters come into their own, in cost terms.

Above 5kW, the price differential becomes exponential in favour of soft starters; the cost of a Fairford QFE unit being approximately 33% of that of an equivalent variable speed drive at 22kW and just 20% at 100kW.

All the more reason to check out soft start information before specifying any fixed speed motor application.

The majority of the new website is open access with further levels of electrical and engineering data available to those who register on the site.

There is also an on-line store where a large range of Fairford's standard product range is available for purchase.

Users can also sign up for a regular email that will keep them up to date with any new information that is being loaded onto the site.
