Cable glands approved for hazardous areas

Brass metric cable glands have been approved for use in both Zone 1 and 2 hazardous areas and also in Zone 21 and 22 areas, which are subject to dust explosion risks.
R Stahl's new Series 8160 brass metric cable glands are approved for use in both Zone 1 and 2 hazardous areas and also in Zone 21 and 22 areas which are subject to dust explosion risks. As the new glands meet the tightness requirements of IP 66 and IP 68 and the safety requirements of ATEX directive 94/9/EC, they are suitable for all applications occurring within a broad ambient temperature range from -40 deg C to +75 deg C. With thread versions from M12 to M63 available, the new glands can be used for cables with diameters ranging from 4-48mm.

This broad range is achieved by using a single seal for each gland size.

As a result, it is not necessary to either convert the gland or modify or exchange the seal.

The new series also includes multiple glands with threads from M20 to M40 and a special seal for use with AsiBUS cables.

Dependent on the version required, it is possible to clamp together up to seven cables with diameters from 5-7mm or eight cables with diameters from 5-6mm.

Another big advantage of the Series 8160 glands is that they use an identical design to R.

Stahl's widely-used Series 8161 plastic glands.

So only one assembly tool is needed.

Another cost cutting innovation lies in the fact that virtually all the company's seals can be used with both brass and plastic glands.
